Classroom Course Eligibility
If you DID NOT receive your ticket in Cook County, IL; Jefferson County, IL or Shelby County, IL, click here.

If you received your ticket in Cook County, IL; Jefferson County, IL or Shelby County, IL, you are eligible for the 4-Hour Driver Safety Course offered by Traffic Safety School if you are 18 years of age or older and if you have not attended or enrolled in a Traffic Safety School course for a violation committed within the previous 12 months.

If you received your ticket in Cook County, IL, and are found ineligible for the 4-Hour Driver Safety Course because you were enrolled in or have attended the 4-Hour Driver Safety Course within the past 12 months, you may be eligible for the 8-Hour Driver Safety Course .

If you have already submitted your registration form requesting the 4-Hour Driver Safety Course and are found to be ineligible for the 4-Hour Driver Safety Course, Traffic Safety School will inform you if you are eligible for the 8-Hour Driver Safety Course. An additional fee will be required at that time.

If you are found to be ineligible for Traffic Safety School, a conviction may be reported to the Secretary of State. Any overpayment, less a processing charge, will be refunded.

Online Course Eligibility
If you have not enrolled in or attended a driver safety course within the past 12 months, you may be eligible to take the Online 4-Hour Driver Safety Course. In Cook County, IL you must be 18 years of age to complete this course. For more information, click here .

Participating in a Course Not Offered by Traffic Safety School
If you received a ticket in Cook County, IL; Jefferson County, IL or Shelby County, IL and wish to participate in a course not offered by Traffic Safety School, you must be sure to choose a state certified course and you must obtain approval of the course from Traffic Safety School prior to participating in the course in order to receive credit for the course.

DO NOT take a course until written approval is granted by Traffic Safety School. To request course approval from Traffic Safety School, please submit written material describing the course to Traffic Safety School, ATTN: Registration Coordinator.

VIDEO OR HOME STUDY COURSES ARE NOT ACCEPTED BY THE COURTS.

Upon successful completion of your course, you must send the original certificate of completion to Traffic Safety School, ATTN: Registration Coordinator.

Traffic Safety School will report your successful course completion to the Court and return your certificate to you.

Not Eligible for Traffic Safety School
If you received your ticket in Cook County, IL and you were enrolled in or have attended a driver safety course—offered by Traffic Safety School or elsewhere—on two separate occasions within 12 months preceding the date of your most recent ticket, you are ineligible for a third assigned court supervision and do not qualify for court ordered attendance of Traffic Safety School. If you are found to be ineligible for Traffic Safety School, a conviction will be reported to the Secretary of State. Any overpayment, less a processing charge, will be refunded.

If you received your ticket in Jefferson County, IL or Shelby County, IL and were enrolled in or have attended a driver safety course—offered by Traffic Safety School or elsewhere—once within 12 months preceding the date of your most recent ticket, you are ineligible for a second assigned court supervision and do not qualify for court ordered attendance of Traffic Safety School. If you are found to be ineligible for Traffic Safety School, a conviction will be reported to the Secretary of State.

If you hold a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and were driving a commercial or noncommercial vehicle when you received this ticket, you are not eligible for Traffic Safety School. A conviction will be reported to the Secretary of State. Any overpayment, less a processing charge, will be refunded.
